Yesterday, I talked about tackling the shoe and paper clutter in your life. Well, today I am spring cleaning and organizing my master bathroom. I detest my master bathroom because of its layout, and there is no storage. Every inch of my bathroom is builder-grade quality, and I am certain the person who designed it did not have little girls with hair ribbons, a wife who has makeup, or even everyday bathroom medical supplies and medicines. There are no drawers and only two big cabinets with no shelves. There are two medicine cabinets for which I am thankful, but they are tiny and simply do not cut it.
My first issue was where to put all my make up, hair stuff, hair cutting scissors, and all of the other odds and ends. Another issue was what to do with all of the other stuff that is under my cabinets. I could not afford to put in any kind of shelving system, and because of the plumbing I was limited in what I can do under the cabinets.
A good friend of mine suggested I buy a door-mounted shoe hanging rack in which to store my makeup and hair stuff. I took her advice and it works great. There are many pockets, and I have each organized with different items. Four of the pockets hold my makeup, one holds all of our tweezers and clippers, another holds the medicines we do not want our kids to get into. The bottom has a mesh pocket, which holds all my daughter’s and my hair stuff. This door shoe rack was inexpensive, costing less than $15, but you get a lot of bang for your buck with it.
For the rest of the stuff in the cabinet, I found stackable plastic containers. One I filled with medical supplies, another with cough drops and other medicines, and then the rest of the stuff was stacked or organized in the rest of the space.
Overall I am pleased with the outcome, and I spent less than $30, because the stackable containers were only $4 on clearance at Walmart.
Tomorrow, I plan to talk about my kids closets, because they tend to be the catch-all of every toy, stuffed animal and piece of kids clothing. I’m joining iDreamofClean and 9 other bloggers in the Spring Cleaning Challenge for a chance to win some incredible prizes!
