Easter was one of my favorite holidays as a kid. I loved to color the eggs, go on the egg hunts, dress up pretty with my mom, get Easter baskets from my parents, and enjoy all the fun crafts we did at school. The other day I pulled out all our craft supplies, and I put together two easy and fun Easter bunny and spring flower crafts. My daughter Keira helped me with them while her brother was in his speech therapy.
Easter Bunny Craft
Supply List: White and pink foam sheets or construction paper, scissors, two plastic eyes (optional you can draw eyes too), cotton balls, pipe cleaners, glue sticks and a marker.
Instructions: On the white piece of paper draw the bunny’s head and on the pink draw the shapes for the pink inner part of the ears of the bunny. Let your child use scissors to cut along the line of the drawn bunny head and pink ear pieces. Use the the glue stick to attach the pink ear pieces and plastic eyes or else draw them. Take the pipe cleaners and push them through the paper about 1/4 inch and fold them back to secure their position, and then glue cotton balls over the pipe cleaner whiskers. Take a pen and draw the teeth. You are finished!
Spring Flower Craft
Supply List: Green and White Foam sheets or construction paper, scissors, pipe cleaners, cup cake paper holders, pen, and glue stick.
Instructions: On the green paper draw out the leaves and stem of your flower. With the scissors, let your child cut along the line of your stem and leaves. Take the glue and rub one side of your leaves and stem to glue them down onto the white piece of paper. Take the cupcake paper holder and glue it down to make the petals of your flower. Use the pipe cleaners and poke them through the middle to make the pistil of your flower. That is all there is to it!
Both of these crafts are simple, and all the supplies can be found at your local craft store or even Walmart where I purchased mine. Make Easter a fun holiday, and take the time to do special projects with your kids. Next week I have the cutest butterfly craft, and if you do it right it can become a piece of artwork.
