Why A Vision Board Is The Only New Year’s Resolution You Need!
In today’s post I am going to tell you how to create a vision board that’s empowering so that your dreams don’t just stay dreams, but become your successes and reality.
January always seems to get people thinking deeper about what they want from their life. Many people, including me, are dreaming again, probably for the first time in months.
Thinking and even visualizing something for their future.
Whether you realize it or not we are all visual beings. It’s been proven time and again that what you focus on and visualize daily, has a huge impact on what you become and the outcome of your goals.
What’s On an Empowering Vision Board?
Focus on how you want to feel
Your board should not just be about stuff you want; it should encourage feelings as well.
An example that I have on my own board is that hot pink couch. To me that couch represents a place of peace, an area where it is only my space to mediate, to get my creative juices flowing and to get in touch with who I am as a woman.
The color of the couch also makes me feel happy as the color pink brings me joy whether I am wearing it or looking at it.
Creating images on your board that make you feel good is the first key to an empowering board.
Create your purpose
We all need to have a purpose in life. It gives us a driving force by bringing everything we desire to life visually. The first step in realizing your purpose is to sit down and figure out what your goals are.
our goals are not limited to work, but also your relationships, finances, spirituality, health, travel, and any area of your life that brings you a sense of passion.
An example of this on my vision board is the meme I used with the words “I want to Empower Women.” I use these words because helping other women conquer their dreams, build their businesses and create time freedom in their lives is extremely important to me.
Include words of affirmation
Words of affirmation must provoke strong feelings and focus on what you desire for your life. What you focus on becomes who you are.
Being selective with what you put on your board is also key; sometimes less is more. The more crowded your board is, the less effective it can become, so make sure you only put on your board what is most important to you.
Use pictures of yourself that provoke happiness
When I was creating my board I wanted a picture of me that represented getting my body back after having our fourth baby. I looked at lots of women who were fitness models, and while their bodies were beautiful and strong they did not provoke the empowering feelings I needed.
I remembered a 50’s photo shoot I did of me in a soft yellow dress. At the time of the photo shoot I was in the best shape of my life and felt unstoppable.
Every time I look at myself on my board I am empowered to know I can get back to looking like I used to.
How to Create an Empowering Vision Board
There are various ways to create the actual vision board. I prefer to create mine electronically because I don’t subscribe to any magazines to cut pictures out. Plus, with one search on Google you can find inspiring and empowering images at your finger tips.
You can use sites like Canva.com and Picmonkey.com, where I created mine, to easily bring everything together and add text. These programs are free and really simple to use.
If you love working with your hands you can get a poster board or pin board and add photos you print out, or cut out from magazines to create your vision board. (Personally I find this costs too much money, but totally your preference as how you want to do it).
Experience with my past vision boards teaches me that the law of attraction truly does work and plays a key role in your life. The goals you achieve and the successes you have visualized should be celebrated!!
How to use your vision board once you have completed it
Place your vision board in a place where you will see it daily to inspire you. Make sure you look at it before you go to bed and before you start your day.
Speak the dreams you have as if they are already happening. The “Act as If” principle is an extremely powerful tool to manifest your desires.
Believe you are capable of the success you desire in your life. Your belief in yourself has a direct relation to your success in life.
If you are spiritual, give Him the glory, and have the faith that if you put in the hard work, your dreams will come true.
Most of all you have to create a WHY around your life that will make you unstoppable.
Creating a vision board should not be something you throw together. You should put a lot of thought into it and spend quiet time doing it.
I wish you all the successes in the world and hope your visualized dreams come true!
