Welcome to day two of my 31 Days of Clean Eating, Meal Planning and Meal Prep series. Today is all about what is clean eating.
Not too many years ago I was a mom who had absolutely no clue what it meant. I thought it probably had to be some crazy low carb or low fat diet.
It wasn’t until my son had to go gluten free did I start my journey. Five years ago “real food” was already pre-made the kind you pull out of your freezer and pop it into the oven.
The more cheese it had on it the better!
Over time, and with many bumps along the way, I finally figured out what clean eating was.
To put it simply clean eating is staying away from anything that is altered by heavy processing or any type of added chemical ingredients like those things you cannot even pronounce.
White flours and sugars are also out, as are dyes, MSG, and GMO’s.
When eating clean you want to eat basic food groups like healthy fats, meats, vegetables, nuts, fruits, and yes it is even good to have carbs, but in the proper amounts and proportions to other foods.
Drinking clean water is another aspect of clean eating because water helps flush your entire body to allow it to run more smoothly.
Clean eating might seem scary, but it really isn’t.
Your grandparents likely grew up eating clean, because everything came from a local farm.
Now, we must simply “un-train” your brain and learn a new way of eating.
Tomorrow in my 31 Days of Clean Eating, Meal Planning, and Meal Prep I am going to talk to you about what meal planning is about.
